Dr. Claire Burbee joined the AFEC family in 2022. She attended the University of Tulsa and graduated with a degree in Biochemistry in 2018. She went on to graduate summa cum laude from Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry (NSUOCO) in 2022. She also completed an externship at Triad Eye Institute in Tulsa, OK. While at NSUOCO, Dr. Burbee learned to manage complex ocular disease, pediatric eye care, and specialty contact lenses fitting including orthokeratology and scleral lenses. She is certified to perform laser eye procedures following cataract surgery and for the treatment of glaucoma. While at NSUOCO, Dr. Burbee was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa Honor’s Society and received the silver medal for having the highest GPA in her graduating class. She served as the Vice President of the Optometric Student Association in 2019 and President of the Optometric Student Association in 2020. Dr. Burbee received numerous awards including the NSU 2022 Academic Achievement Award and the NSUOCO Golden Retinoscope Award for most outstanding clinical skills among senior clinicians. Dr. Burbee is involved with the Oklahoma Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, and the InfantSEE program. Dr. Burbee currently lives in Tulsa with her husband, Alex, who is a mechanical engineer in Broken Arrow. They enjoy spending time outside, biking, playing tennis, and binge-watching the latest Netflix series.
